Dr. Mike Franz MD, DFAACAP, FAPA
Medical Director of Behavioral Health @PacificSource
Dr. Franz is a board certified child & adolescent and adult psychiatrist who has worked in a variety of clinical and administrative leadership positions in Oregon and nationally. He is currently Medical Director of Behavioral Health at PacificSource where he oversees Medicaid, Commercial and Medicare lines of across four states. In that role he has made significant progress toward developing sustainable reimbursement of behavioral health integration in medical settings. On Fridays, he works as a clinician providing psychiatric direct care and consultation to pediatric clinics via telemedicine and the Collaborative Care Model. In addition, Dr. Franz is a co-owner and consultant for Cartesian Solutions LLC which helps organizations address health complexity by improving outcomes and lowering costs. Dr. Franz is a past-president of the Oregon Council of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and continues as an active member of its Executive Council.
Dr. David Kleist
Chair and Professor @Department of Counseling at Idaho State University
Dr. David Kleist kleidavi@isu.eduDr. David Kleist is the chair and professor for the Department of Counseling at Idaho State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision focused in Couple and Family Counseling from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. He also earned a master’s degree in 1991 from Governors State University and bachelor’s degree in 1987 from University of Wisconsin-Madison. Scholarly interests include qualitative research, instructional theory, couple and family counseling, and ethics. He studies the influences of postmodern philosophy on the areas above (i.e., use of reflecting teams, social constructionist theory) and its impact on the future of counselor education. Additionally, he is concerned with increasing the field's awareness of the importance of training counselors in the skills of prevention as well as remediation (treatment) and who will influence the future of counselor education.
